Navigating social media and the online world when you’re an educator, professional or carer can be a minefield. Not only do you have to be aware over what you photograph, video and post online, but you also need to monitor and sometimes report students’ online activity or behaviour whilst they’re in your care. This is confusing and concerning for professionals and the technology keeps evolving. This keynote address highlights the current online risks and concerns facing today’s students (everything from pornography exposure and social media, to violent content and cyber-bullying) so professionals have clear advice about their legal responsibilities and obligations. Professionals will be armed with practical advice about their online habits to ensure that their professional standards aren’t compromised and will learn the risks and concerns facing today’s kids.
