We’re living in a world saturated with screens. Our digital dependence is shaping our lives and impacting on infants’ and young children’s health, wellbeing and development. Most importantly our screen obsession is affecting how we form and nurture relationships with young children and also how they’re building key relationships. In this keynote presentation Dr Kristy translates the latest research about how technology is shaping the ways that parents and carers form and maintain relationships and attachments with children. She’ll talk about how screens are potentially causing social skills deficits and self-regulation problems in young children,  the impact of ‘brexting’ (breast-feeding and using smartphones), the neurological impact of fractured attention and introduce the concept of ‘techno-glect’. Kristy will arm participants with facts, not fears about technology and will equip them with a range of easy-to-implement strategies to promote the healthy and helpful use of technology to foster relationships and simple tips and tricks to mitigate any potential harmful effects.
